Why 'vintage'?

Our 'new' leopards are based on the original designs from 1980s and produced by the same Italian factories who created them back then. They are made from the very same original vintage sculptures and moulds and hand painted with just as much love and care. This means a leopard made today is almost indistinguishable from an 80s original! So yes, they are new but also kind of vintage, 'new-vintage' if you like? We didn't feel 'vintage reproduction' was quite the right term, since they aren't reproductions as they are made in the exact same way. 

As each item is handmade there will be small variations in the colours, facial details and on the surface of the glaze, these are not imperfections merely natural occurrences of a real handcrafted product making each and every piece unique. We personally love that no two are the same, giving each leopard its own character. 

We began selling ceramic leopards with our genuine curated vintage collection back when this store was exclusively vintage and antiques. Our customers however adored them so much we just couldn't hunt out enough vintage ones. With this in mind we did some investigating and were absolutely amazed to find that the Italian factory who made some of our beloved vintage leopards in the 1980's were still making them today! Our friends in Italy make every single ceramic themselves and painstakingly paint them by hand - just as they have done for over 40 years. 

Due to the hand made nature of our ceramics we only have small batches and they often sell out, so we now offer our pre-order service where your very own leopard (or other ceramic) will be made to order just for you. We started with leopards and now offer a whole range of big cats such as cheetahs, tigers and panthers in a variety of sizes. Flamingoes, kitties, poodles and all manner of other beautiful animals have now joined our family. 

We must also mention our world famous pink leopards, especially Frenchie who got her main character moment on Apple TV's Ted Lasso alongside Juno Temple. 

From the 80s to present one thing is for sure, these beautiful leopards will never be out of style!

Dispatch time: We are a small business and whilst this means you get an awesome personal service we aim to dispatch within 2-3 days for all in stock items. This may be extended during Xmas / UK holiday periods. If you do need something in a hurry we will absolutely do our best, just drop us a line or select an express shipping option where available. 

Shipping: Items are shipped from the UK and we ship worldwide. All items will be sent with tracking and require a signature on delivery. All postage costs are based on size and weight, the postage will be calculated once you enter your address at check out. Please ensure you enter your shipping address correctly and in full,  if there is an error in the shipping address this can result in your order not being delivered or incurring additional charges.  If an order is returned to us due to the above shipping charges will be billed to the receiver.

Our guarantee: We guarantee the safe delivery of your item, if for any reason it doesn't arrive to you in tip-top condition please contact us as soon as possible and make sure you retain the packaging and item until advised otherwise. We will either replace or refund your item, no quibble.

Please note, if you choose to use the 'sign online' option with UPS for your order then you are agreeing to let UPS waive liability for loss or damage.  If you do this it is at your own risk and also voids our guarantee.

In addition, our guarantee only covers items sent directly from Dogwood Lifestyle Ltd to the customer. If you choose to use a 3rd party intermediary service, such as a parcel holding / shipping company this is at your own risk and excludes the transaction from our guarantee.

International: We are happy to ship worldwide however please be aware of your country / states taxes and import fees. Since Brexit this now includes Europe. Any fees / taxes are the sole responsibility of the customer, we cannot calculate these for you. 

*2025 Update - Shipping Taxes / Tariffs / Restrictions

USA - There are currently no additional 'Liberation Day / Trump Tax' tariffs being charged, however you still may be charged import taxes as usual, these are usually only applied for orders over USD $800 but please do check your state regulations. We ship items separately due to their fragile nature therefore your order will be split into separate shipments. We will update if there are any changes to the 'Trump tax' situation. 

Europe and Norther Ireland - Due to European GDPR regulations as of December 2024 we have had to postpone shipping to EU and NI as the new law requires us to have a European office to oversea GDPR regulations. As a small family business this is something outside of our scope. We will update if this situation changes.

Pre Orders: As many of our items are hand made by skilled artisans this takes time and care. We often sell out of our collections as soon as they arrive, to avoid disappointment and ensure you get the piece you desire we offer pre-order options. When you pre-order an item it is made especially for you either in Italy or the UK which can take up to 10 - 16 weeks, but we try to get it to you as soon as we can.

If you pre-order an item we are already expecting in stock then it will be with you much sooner and this will be indicated on the item page, with the month of expected delivery. Where a month is indicated this can be from the first to the last day of the month as we need some flexibility.

For items available on pre-order we also offer the option to pay a 50% deposit on order and the remaining balance once the item is ready for dispatch. 

Remaining deposit balances will be automatically charged once the item is ready, we will send you a reminder email 2-3 days prior to the charge being authorised. All deposit orders must be paid in full within 1 month (30 days) of expected delivery date. Deposits are not refundable, however once paid in full our standard returns policy is applied. All pre-orders are custom made to order therefore any cancellations will result in a 25% cancelation fee being charged.  

Please note all arrival dates are estimated due to factors beyond our control such as complications in factory, transportation, customs delays etc. These are handmade items created individually by a real human and not a machine!

Do contact us before ordering if you require your item before a certain date and we will do our best to assist you.

Pre-order exclusions:

• Customers need to use Shopify Payments or PayPal Express as a payment method.
• Customers can't purchase pre-orders by using the following accelerated checkouts: Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Meta Pay.

Custom Orders: As as sustainable business we do not hold large amounts of stock, but we realise our customers sometimes need something we don't have. This is why we also offer custom orders. These items are not pieces we hold in stock but we can have them made just for you. When you custom order an item it is made especially for you either in Italy or the UK which can take up to 16 weeks, but we try to get it to you as soon as we can.

As 'custom order' items are uniquely made to your specification we cannot offer refunds or cancellations as these items cannot be resold.  All deposit orders must be paid in full within 1 month (30 days) of estimated delivery date. 

We cannot accommodate custom requests during the busy holiday season Oct-Dec.
